2 Quick Tips for Your Health Now by Joan Kent, PhD
It’s early in the year, but you may already be feeling something of a slump where your motivation is concerned. Avoid these 2 mistakes.
Mistake #1: Thinking Motivation is Excitement
Motivation is absolutely NOT enthusiasm or excitement! Motivation is about your behavior, not your emotions.
Instead: Get it done. Feel free to grumble, scowl and/or complain. Just do it! (Where have we heard THAT before??)
Mistake #2: Screwing Up Your Sleep by Eating Wrong
Trouble sleeping can make it tough to “show up” for early workouts — or even to want to work out at all.
Instead: Skip alcohol or sugar before bedtime. Either may cause sleep problems.
ALSO eat a little starch — alone, or with saturated fat (like butter), or with a slice of turkey. Your ability to fall asleep and stay asleep can improve dramatically.
